Bangladesh put up an extraordinary effort in the field and managed to restrict India to 172/10 in 50 overs during the semifinal of the U-19 Asia Cup at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Earlier, India elected to bat first having won the toss.

Shoriful Islam got the scalp of opener Devdutt Paddikal in the third over but India recovered after the early loss with a 66-run second-wicket stand.

Shoriful came into the attack for his second spell to break the partnership, removing Anuj Rawat for 35.

After that, India lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to build any substantial partnerships in the middle.

Bangladesh bowler Shoriful finished with fantastic figures of 16/3 from 10 overs.

The India lower middle order provided some resistence but performances from Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, Rishad Hossain and Towhid Hridoy, who all bagged two wickets each meant India were not able to play the full 50 overs.
