Bangladesh played 26.5 overs in a two-hour first session on day-one for a 105-run for the cost of two wickets in the first innings of the first Test against visiting West Indies at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city on Thursday.

Mominul Haque [53* off 75b; 7x4] completed his 13th Test half-century and was at the crease while Imrul Kayes [30 off 87b; 3x4] was out just before the lunch break.

Opener Kayes was caught by Sunil Ambris off Jomel Warrican, sharing a partnership of 104 off 26.2 overs in the second stand.

Opening the innings with the bat after winning the toss, Bangladesh suffered the first jolt in the very third ball as Soumya Sarkar was out with duck before Kayes and Mominul started their composures.

Soumya, who returned for Test after around a year break after playing last in October 2017, played just two balls before being caught behind by Shane Dowrich off Kemar Roach with a collection of one run on the score board.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and elected to bat first with three changes in their eleven that played against Zimbabwe in the second Test in Dhaka early this month.

Uncapped Nayeem Hasan got a spot alongside Shakib and Soumya’s return, replacing Liton Kumar Das and Khaled Ahmed and Ariful Haque respectively.

Bangladesh: Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan(captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Nayeem Hasan.
