The crazy fan, who broke into the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong and gave a flower bouquet to Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan a day ago, has been arrested, according to a report.

Confirming the incident, sources from the Pahartoli Police Station said, “He was arrested around 6:00pm on Friday.”

However, the identity of the arrested person couldn’t be known immediately.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman said, “Deputy Commissioner (West region) Md Faruqul Islam has been asked to investigate into the matter.
Six police men, who were in the charge of security of the stadium, have already been withdrawn.”

The CMP chief also informed that they are finding out whether there was any negligence of duty at the stadium.

According to media reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was taking preparation of filing a case against the Shakib’s fan, who entered the field at the top of the safety bar yesterday.

However, it has not been confirmed yet whether the BCB filed the case or not against him till the filing of the report this morning.

On Friday, the play of the 2nd day of the one-off Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium got halted for a while as a crazy fan ran onto the field to give Shakib a flower bouquet.

The fan presented the flowers by kneeling down in front of Shaikb and then saluted him. Police later took him outside of the stadium.

Though the stadium was under tight security, the fan’s entrance into the stadium bypassing all security left the on duty security personnel red faced.

Prior to this, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Mushfiqur Rahim faced the same situation on the field.
