New Zealand bowlers staged the perfect comeback on the fifth day to restrict Bangladesh to 160 runs for 9, earning themselves a shot at winning the first Test.

Worse for the Tigers, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim had to leave the field in an ambulance after a Tim Southee bouncer struck him on the helmet.

He was on a modest 13, but the 53 balls he faced only shows how vital he could have been on this fifth day.

Team sources say the injury is not serious, but precautions are being taken.

Opener Imrul Kayes, who had to leave the field due to an injury on the fourth day, did come to bat again and was not out on 36.

But his colleagues could not replicate first innings’ form as they could only manage 160 for 9, setting the Kiwis a target of 217, to be made in 57 overs.
Sabbir Rahman was the only player to offer some resistance with a fifty, or else things could have gone more embarrassing for the visitors.

Trent Boult was the most deadly among the hosts bowlers, bagging three wickets, while Mitchell Santner and Neil Wagner picked two wickets each.
