PM phones Mashrafe, Tamim after Bangladesh's victory against Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday talked to Bangladesh one-day skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and dashing batsman Tamim Iqbal and congratulated them on their victory against Sri Lanka in the first ODI match today.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina talked to Mashrafe and Tamim over phone immediately after the Bangladesh's victory against Sri Lanka in the first match of three-match ODI series and extended her heartiest greetings to them for the win," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.

Sheikh Hasina, an avid cricket fan, greeted all the players, coach and officials of the national team as well as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials concerned for defeating Sri Lanka in the first ODI match at Dambulla in Sri Lanka.

"The whole nation is proud of seeing the team spirit of our players and their tremendous performance," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim quoted the premier as saying.

The prime minister expressed the hope that the winning spree of the Bangladesh cricket team would continue in future.

Bangladesh crushed Sri Lanka by 90 runs in the 1st ODI to take 1-0 series lead in the three-match series started at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
