After sharing the points in the Tri-Nation Series opener, Bangladesh again will play host Ireland at Malahide, Dublin today.

Both, Bangladesh and Ireland must look forward to their maiden win in the series when they will take each other at 3:45 pm (Bangladesh time).

The Tigers are in the 2nd slot by virtue of more run rate while Ireland side running in the bottom, both side remained winless playing out two matches each.

If, Bangladesh could manage wins in the next two matches and New Zealand loss the both, there will be a chance for the Tigers to clinch the series.

Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza emphasized that they need improvements in bowling and batting, after their defeat to New Zealand on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 258 runs, the Black Caps beat Tigers easily by 4 wickets with 15 balls in hand in the One Day International of Tri-Nation series. Bangladesh tried hard to restrict the Kiwis but overall performance wasn’t up to the mark for Tigers to get the desired victory.

At the post-match press conference yesterday, Mashrafe expressed that they need to do better in the upcoming matches.

He admitted his bowling was dissatisfactory and also pointed on overall team effort.

Mashrafe conceded 58 runs in his 6 overs 3 balls spell with an economy rate of 8.92.
His spell put the Kiwis in the front foot from the beginning of the match.

“We should have started with a better bowling figure, especially me. Shakib did well from his part but I believe we were 20 runs short. We had a couple of partnerships but those weren’t big enough,” he said.

He also admired the batting of opener Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad.

“Soumya was in good form; Mushfiq and Mahmudullah also delivered with the bat. Opening stand of Tamim and Soumya was quite good. In bowling, Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur had a good day. Rubel made a brilliant return in the ODI.”

“I must admit we have lacking and we must fill those gaps. Our fielding was good but there is scope for improvement in both batting and bowling departments. We need to have breakthroughs in the opening spells,” he concluded.
