Farooki's Doob wins Kommersant Weekend Prize in Moscow

Much talked about Mostofa Sarwar Farooki directed film “Doob: No Bed of Roses has won the Kommersant Weekend Prize at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival.

The Bangladesh-India joint production film has been selected for the best jury film award and also competing in the best film category which have not been announced yet.

The film has been produced by Abdul Aziz and Irrfan Khan under the banner of Jaaz Multimedia and Irrfan Khan Films.

Farooki in his immediate reaction after winning the film said, “Never imagined that such prize was waiting for me. This is a huge honour for me and the country.”

However, he expressed his sadness that Bangladeshi viewers are not watching the movie as movie’s release has been stalled after Bangladeshi actor Meher Afroz Shaon complained that Doob portrayed her late husband, famous writer Humayun Ahmed inappropriately.

The festival was started on June 10 in which Doob and 10 other films from different countries are competing for the best film prize.
