Bangladesh lost couple of quick wickets following the 71-run stand between Mithun Ali and Imrul Kayes as the trend of losing two wickets in the same over continued. Kyle Jarvis came into the attack to pick up three wickets Mithun and Mahmudullah Riyad in the same over, before taking the scalp of Mehedi Miraz on the next over.

Imrul Kayes, coming in to open the batting notched his 16th ODI fifty as Tigers look to bounce back following the loss of Mushfiqur Rahim.

Bangladesh lost two early wickets as debutant Fazle Rabbi went for a duck after the loss of Liton Das, who fell in the same over off the bowling of Tendai Chatara. Following some recovery work, Mushfiqur Rahim, who had contributed with a 49-run third-wicket stand fell in the 15th over. Mithun Das on the other end is batting well on 19. Imrul has struck five fours and three sixes during his knock so far.

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat first in the first ODI against Zimbabwe at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

There were two changes to the side that lost last month’s Asia Cup final against India as the Tigers gave a debut to batsman Fazle Rabbi and brought in pace-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin in place of fast bowler Rubel Hossain, who is recovering from fever.

The recent history between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in ODIs is a one-sided one, with the Tigers winning the last 10 matches and last losing at home to the southern African nation in December 2010.
