Taijul takes five, Bangladesh need 321 to win

Zimbabwe scored 181 in their 2nd innings and set the total target to 321 runs for the host Bangladesh.

Spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz (3) and Taijul Islam (5) shared eight wickets of the second innings on day-three in the first Test of a two-match series at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Zimbabwe resumed the second innings after lunch with 91/2 in 32.0 overs and lost skipper-cum-opener Hamilton Masakadza [48 off 104b; 7x4] on 101/3 in 36.1 overs before Taijul dismissed three Sean Williams [25 off 30b; 3x4; 1x6], Peter Moor [20 off 65b; 2x4] and Sikandar Raza [0] respectively.

H Masakadza was lbw by Miraz before Taijul, who got six wickets in the first innings for Bangladesh, captured successive five wickets.

In the first session on the day, Zimbabwe lost two wickets Brendan Taylor [24 off 25b; 4X4] and Brian Chari within an innings of 30 overs to add 90 runs more with an overnight score of 1/0 in 2 overs.

Miraz brought the 1st breakthrough for Bangladesh by bowling out Brian Chari on 91/2 in 32 overs before spinner Taijul Islam dismissed Brendan Taylor, caught by Imrul Kayes, at 47/2 in 18.2 overs.

Brendan Taylor was caught by after scoring 24 off 25 balls, including four boundaries.
