Jamaica eliminated from CPL after Liton’s debut

Liton Das’s debut match in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) coincided with Jamaica Tallahwah’s elimination from the race of the last four-spot after they tasted a four-wicket defeat to St Lucia Zouks on Friday.

According to the CPL website, Jamaica, also boasted with star players like Chris Gayle, Dwayne Smith, amassed 156-7 which St Lucia gunned down with five balls to spare, making 169-6.

Liton on his debut match, scored run-a-ball-21 with one four.

The highest run however came from the willow of Smith who blasted 58 off 38 with six fours and three sixes.

Fast bowler Kesrick Williams claimed 3-24 for St Lucia.

Rahkeem Cornwall led St Lucia’s victory, hammering a whirlwind 25 ball-51, featured with four fours and five sixes.

With just four points in nine matches, Jamaica however is not in the race of last four. They will play their last match against Guyana Amazon Warrior on October 4.

Shakib Al Hasan is the other Bangladeshi player to take part in this CPL as he was roped in by Barbados Tridents.

Shakib’s team Barbados is in fifth place amongst the six teams in the tournament but since they have three matches left, Barbados still could hope to seal a last four spot.
