A long gap cannot ruin Bangladesh stalwart Tamim Iqbal's experience, said Saturday his childhood coach Mohammad Salahuddin, who is also set to coach his Dhaka Platoon BPL team.

With the forthcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) beginning on December 11, Tamim is expected to return to professional cricket.

After the Sri Lanka tour following the World Cup 2019, Tamim played just one match at the top level of the game and was out of action during the recent India tour of Bangladesh. Previous to that, during Bangladesh's home series against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, he was also out of the picture.

"Well experienced players like Mashrafe (Bin Mortaza) and Tamim. For more than 10-15 years they've been playing cricket. So they can't ruin their experience with a long gap. I think they're capable enough in a few days to return to their best form, "Salahuddin told the media on Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

For Dhaka Platoon, both Mashrafe and Tamim will feature in the BPL special edition. Also in the parts of Dhaka Platoon are Anamul Haque Bijoy, Thisara Perera, Shahid Afridi, Lawrie Evans, and Mominul Haque.
